I’d never travelled anywhere challenging before and was both excited and apprehensive about it, as I have dietary needs and a chronic health condition. I needn’t have worried as Wangda and his team took great care and always ensured that we were well fed and hydrated – wherever we went there were always plenty of hot drinks and extra portions, if we wanted them. This isn’t a trip for the faint hearted – some of the accommodation is pretty basic – but it gives you a unique insight into the lives of the Sherpa people. They are tough, kind and good humoured. They may lack materially but this is more than compensated by their culture, community and family ties, and their love of the Himalayas.”
